Our Mission

Chrysalis House is a safe and non-judgmental environment providing shelter and outreach services for women and children. These services include support, advocacy, referrals, resources, public education and community development. We recognize that oppression exists in a multitude of forms and are proactive in empowering women to have hope and make their own choices to live free from violence and abuse.

In this award-winning podcast, you will hear powerful stories from survivors and champions dedicated to eradicating violence against women in Nova Scotia.

On Persons Day, we honour the Famous Five trailblazers who fought for women to be recognized as “persons” under Canadian law in 1929. Their victory was a turning point, but not the finish line. We carry their legacy forward by continuing the fight for equity, safety, and justice for all women and girls.

Rural women face additional barriers when seeking safety, so what can be done?

Through mobile outreach, better digital access, strong community networks, trauma-informed care, and the power of sharing stories, we can create safer, more supportive pathways forward.

Support should reach everyone, no matter the distance.

Many survivors of intimate partner violence are unaware that head and facial injuries can lead to brain injuries. As a result, they may not seek the medical care they need.

On Purple Thursday, we raise awareness about the intersection between intimate partner violence and brain injury so that survivors receive the compassionate care and assistance they need to heal. #IPV #TBI

On National Coming Out Day, remember: There is no right way to come out. 🏳️‍🌈
